Rafting -  adventure trip in the jungle

We are from here, our grandfathers descended upon the rivers in simple canoes.  They taught us about the river, as well as how to care for and respect the river Jatun Yacu.  This river is very clean and its waters come from the glacier of Volcano Antisana .  From a very young age I have known this river.  With a rafting boat I have descended upon the river Jatun Yacu before I had reached the age of 10 and for these reasons, today many agencies would like to work with me and take advantage of my knowledge of the river.
 
We from MUNDPOPUMA prefers to present our clients with a level of rafting with maximum security, but also a trip down river that is full of history and legends that are told to us through the “aya rumi” (“la alma de la piedra” or the soul of the stone).  In our rafting trip we offer a plentiful lunch, short explications of the local plants, the legends from the “aya rumis” y if desired a lesson on how to wash gold in the river. Sometimes there is a demand for a combination of activities. For this reason MUNDOPUMA offers a creation of individual programs for tourists.  In this case, it would be better to contact us via e-mail or visit our agency in Tena. In many ways, we hope that we may realize your dreams and expectations. We have very interesting packages where a lot of activities are combined to a great adventure.


Large Groups / scientific expeditions / Student groups
At times we have encountered large groups that have wanted to visit our community y spend time together with us in the jungle.  In general, we can realize all of the offers of our tourist programs with large groups as well.  Our accommodations (cabins), within the community of Serena, the MUNDOPUMALODGE and other tourist attractions in the jungle maintain a capacity of between 12 and 20 persons.  According to our previous experience, it is best to advise us prior to entering the jungle in order to organize our efforts and guarantee adequate attention for each of our visitors.
 
En the specific case of university excursions that have interest in the use of our cabins, it is best to contact us to explain the purpose of the excursion and the projected goals.  We will then be able to successfully advise and inform about the programs that best fit the desired result, as well as, the most beneficial camping sites and guide for the trip.

There have been times when we have heard from our female visitors their discomfort during their trips due to the prevalence of machismo that exists lamentably in large parts of Latin America , and as a consequence they lack confidence in male guides.  Within our family here, we secure that these occurrences do not present themselves and that our women tourists feel unbothered and secure.  At times we have had foreigners interested in the daily life of Quichua women and their visions of the jungle.  Traditionally, the life of a Quichua woman is very hard, but in its details more interesting.  Although the position of the indigenous woman has changed in recent years, a strong relation with the past and the culture of our grandparents is still present.

MUNDOPUMA offers a program guided by women for women to meet the needs of our women visitors.
